Nissan is recalling 59,058 cars across the UK after airbag concerns. That includes six different models - only the Almera was manufactured in Sunderland. Nissan has stressed that no incidents have taken place and that the recall is precautionary.
However, in Japan, five incidents have taken place. The problem is with a part in the airbag and the Sunderland site used the same supplier between 2001 and 2003. Customers are being contacted individually.
