New renewable energy plant to be built on Teesside

Plans have been announced for a new green power station at Wilton which will create 50 new jobs and keep 200 others in work over the next three years.

The 200 million pound project, which is being built by SITA UK, Semcorp and Japanese firm ITOCHU, will turn household waste into renewable fuel.

This renewable fuel will then be used to generate enough electricity to power 63,000 households.

The new plant will be built next to the existing “Wilton 10” Biomass Power Station.
