Tyneside basketball team win national competition

A team of young baskeball players from Tyneside has won a national competition aimed at promoting health and introducing youngsters to the sport.

The team from St Aloysius Junior School in Hebburn won the Hoops for Health finals at Wembley Arena in London.

The scheme is supported locally by the Newcastle Eagles basketball team whose members visit schools to encourage physical activity and healthy eating.

More than 6,000 children now take part in Tyne and Wear and Northumberland.
