A school that will be the first of its kind in the country is set to open on North Tyneside this September.
King's School and the Priory Primary School will become a Woodard Academies school - combining an independent school with a state primary school.
The new principal David Dawes told ITV News that the move is a boost for local education.
However, many councillors - like Ian Grayson - fear it will affect other schools in the area.
