A Scout group from Chester-le-Street will be able to enjoy a week-long camp thanks to a cash grant from a housing association.
First Burnmoor Scout Group will be visiting Bassenthwaite in Cumbria to enjoy walking, canoeing, zip wire, cycling and sailing.
Cestria Community Housing.awarded the group £800 from its Community Benefit Fund to help pay for the trip to the Lake District next month.
"The Cestria grant will help with camp site fees and transport. It will also help pay for the group of about 20 young people to enjoy activities while away.
– Allan Forster, group Scout leader at 1st Burnmoor Scouts
"It's a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors and the range of activities we are able to offer means the Scouts go home with experiences they will remember forever. Being able to provide such a packed itinerary doesn't come cheap however, and while parents do make a significant contribution to the trip we need to secure outside help to make sure it can go ahead.
"That's why this grant from Cestria is so important - it's fantastic news that we have been awarded this money. It means we can start planning the trip in earnest now we know we definitely have the funds to make it happen."
– Christine Scott, head of corporate services for Cestria
"Going away for a week long camp like this is a big adventure for all the Scouts involved and will provide them with memories which will last a lifetime.
"It plays an important part in the group's work to help the Scouts to reach their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential. It's a chance to learn new skills and try new experiences in a safe and friendly atmosphere. We're thrilled we've been able to help the group, which relies on the hard work of volunteers, to meet the costs of the trip and hope everyone has a great time."
