Northumbria Police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen a car which hit a pedestrian and her dog late last night in Prudhoe, killing both of them.
"We need the public's help to trace the vehicle involved and we are asking for anyone who witnessed the crash or who was in the area at the time and may have seen the vehicle just before or after the incident to contact us.
"We believe the collision would have caused significant damage to the front of the vehicle so we are also asking people to contact us if they are aware of a vehicle with fresh damage to the front."
