A family, including a six-week-old baby, escaped from a fire after lightning struck the roof of their house overnight. The baby was sleeping in a cot directly underneath the roof space, on Trident Drive in Blyth, which was set alight in the storm.
Firefighters removed part of the roof to put out the fire. No one was hurt.
