Good Samaritan assaulted in Newbiggin

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a good Samaritan was assaulted in Newbiggin.

The attack happened at 6.50am on Sunday 16 June close to a footpath opposite bungalows on Memorial Square, Newbiggin.

The Good Samaritan, a 32-year-old man, was walking from Eastlea toward Memorial Square with a woman when they witnessed a violent argument between another man and woman.

When they intervened the man was hit with a piece of wood and suffered a fractured left wrist.

The man who attacked him is:

  • White
  • Of slim build
  • Around 30-years-old
  • 5 feet 10 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall
  • Pale complexion
  • Short light brown hair
  • Wearing a bright red Nike hooded top with a black Nike emblem on the front. He was also wearing black jeans and brown tan ankle boots.

The woman who was with him is:

  • White
  • Of slim build
  • around 23-years-old
  • 5 feet 6 inches tall
  • Long, dark-brown, straight hair
  • Heavy black eye make-up
  • Wearing a white Lonsdale tracksuit and white trainers with pink detailing
