Durham will continue its summer in the spotlight, as it prepares to host a festival of flowers. The event has been inspired by the Lindisfarne Gospels, which are currently on display in the city.

The festival is called Jewels of the North and involves flower clubs across Northumberland and County Durham. It will open on 30th August.

Tens of thousands of people have visited Durham this summer to see the Gospels exhibition. It is taking place a short distance from the cathedral, on Palace Green.
