The latest free school in the region has opened its doors this morning.
Durham Free School is the eighth to appear in the North East since being introduced by the Government in 2011.
Free schools are not controlled by local authorities and give teachers and parents more choice about what is taught there.
As Jonny Blair report, it only has 30 pupils but has plans to grow. Watch his full report below.
