Union members gathered outside Northallerton Prison this morning to discuss what they will do about the government’s closure plans.
135 staff jobs and 70contract jobs are set to go under new plans to close four of the country’s oldest prisons.
Staff do not understand why Northallerton is set to close but union leaders say “we will not lie down and have our tummies tickled”.
