More than a quarter of teachers in the North East say they have seen a child fall asleep in class due to hunger.
The report, by a cereal company, highlights how many children skip breakfast before they go to school.
Teachers say it leads to pupils falling behind in class, so many now offer breakfast clubs like this one in Sunderland.
