Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew said his side scored "two great goals" in their 2-0 victory over Leeds United in the Capital One Cup last night.
Striker Papiss Cisse grabbed his first goal of the season with a header after 31 minutes, before Yoan Gouffran sealed the win with an 18-yard effort in the second-half.
Speaking after the match, Pardew said: "They were two great goals. Both made by Sammy [Ameobi] in different circumstances. Good ability from Sammy for the first with a simple pass.
"The second goal was all about Gouffran setting himself and a fantastic hit."
Cisse's goal was his first in 11 games for Newcastle. Pardew added that he hopes the Senegal international can now return to his best form for the club. He said: "Goals can settle a player down and hopefully it will."
