A coroner has recorded a verdict of accidental death at an inquest for 2 teenage girls who drowned in the River Wear.
14-year-old Chloe Fowler was playing in the water near Washington when she got into difficulties.
Her 15-year-old friend Tonibeth Purvis tried to save her.

Robert Hodgson, from Stanley, County Durham, committed the offences on the girls, aged as young as five or six, up to the age of 13.
