A canoeist was airlifted to hospital after being pulled from a swollen river in County Durham.
Emergency services attended the scene yesterday afternoon near the suspension bridge over the River Tees at Whorlton Lido, near Barnard Castle.
The man was rescued from the river bank and airlifted to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
