The Archdeacon of Sunderland has offered his support to students at the school where Matthew Hayes attended.
The 12-year-old died after being hit by a bus in Ryhope on Friday afternoon.
The Venerable Stuart Bain, Chair of Governors and Archdeacon of Sunderland, said:
"We are putting plans in place to support our students and staff on Monday morning. Our thoughts are with his family and friends, and we offer them our prayers and deepest sympathy at this sad time."
