Rescuers battled against tide to save cliff crash victim

The emergency services had to battle against the tide to save a woman whose car had fallen off a cliff. The car came off Blyth Road in Whitley Bay at 00:45 on 2nd January. The driver was taken to hospital but her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Car crashes into sea

A woman had to be cut free from her car after it rolled 60 feet over an embankment, crashed through railings and fell a further 20 feet onto rocks in the sea.
