Tyneside musician hopes to crack America

On ITV Tyne Tees News tonight Pam Royle talks to Newcastle singer-songwriter Beth Jeans Houghton who has been given a grant by the government to take her talent to America.

The 24-year-old from Heaton performed her first gig aged 16 at the Head of Steam pub in Newcastle.

She is now among a small group of UK musicians who will receive funding to help export their products.

The 14 acts are to receive a grant from the Department for Business Innovation & Skills to help promote British music abroad.
