Hall retains world title after fight stopped

Stuart Hall retains his IBF bantamweight world title after his fight with challenger Martin Ward was stopped in the second round. An accidental clash of heads left Ward with a nasty cut above his right eye. The fight was declared a technical draw.

The Clash of the Clans at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle is being billed as the biggest night of boxing the North East has even seen.

Reigning IBM Bantamweight World Champion Stuart Hall, from Darlington, is challenged by County Durham's Martin Ward.

There is a host of other North East talent on the bill.
