Police are asking the public for help after thieves stole money from a cash machine, after distracting the victim and bank staff.
Three men, working as a gang, went into the Santander bank on Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough at 11.15am yesterday (28 May).
While one them distracted the help desk staff, the other two targeted a woman using the cash machine.
One of the men dropped a £5 note on the floor behind the woman, told her she had dropped the money and as she picked it up the second man seized her money from the machine.
The three men then left.
The three suspects, all in their mid twenties and of slim build, are believed to be of Eastern European origin.
They were mainly wearing dark clothing, and all had short dark hair, one was wearing a baseball cap.
It is believed they may have also have tried this scam at other banks in the area and police are urging the public to be on their guard.
