On Friday July 19 a 51-year-old fell to his death at a coastal beauty spot in North Yorkshire. Police have now named him as Malcolm Hall - affectionately known as Mac - from Skelton, near Saltburn.

His family have said: "Our family was devastated by the sudden and tragic death of Mac.

"Not only have we lost a son, brother, dad, granddad and uncle, we have also lost a friend who loved his family dearly and was always there for us whenever we needed him, no matter what.

"It is a small comfort to us knowing that Mac died doing something that he loved.

"He will be terribly missed by us and his wide circle of friends who we would like to thank for their kind words of comfort, love and support."

A man in his twenties was arrested for manslaughter and has been released on bail.

It has been reported the two were looking for the precious stone 'jet'.
