A Newcastle University Professor has paid tribute to two of her students after they were killed in Malaysia.
Fourth-year medical students Neil Dalton and Aidan Brunger, both 22, were on the Malaysian part of the island of Borneo on attachment to a hospital in Kuching.
Professor Jane Calvert, Head of the Newcastle University Medical School, spoke to ITV News Tyne Tees. She confirmed that Neil Dalton had hoped to go into clinical practice whereas Aidan Brunger had aspirations to become a medical researcher.
She said: "Words just can't express what a loss it is".
Post mortem examinations have been carried out on the two Newcastle University medical students stabbed to death in Borneo.
