Roy 'Chubby' Brown has been fined £30 and slapped with four points on his licence after he was caught reading a newspaper at the wheel.
The comic, whose real name is Royston Vasey, 69, was filmed by North Yorkshire Police’s mobile safety camera as he drove along the A19 near Crathorne on 15 May.
Northallerton Magistrates also ordered him to pay costs of £60.

A statement from North Yorkshire Police said: "Motorists must give the road their full attention as a few seconds’ lapse in concentration can have catastrophic consequences, literally meaning the difference between life and death.”
Brown's agent said: "He is not available to comment on this matter."

It happened between 4pm on Friday July 22 and 7.30am on Monday July 25 at Shiney Row Primary School.
They took a vehicle from Newcastle before driving to North Shields, where they collided with a 72-year-old and left him for dead.
