Major new lung cancer screening trial

A trial of a simple blood test that detects cancer at its earliest stage of development is set to be launched in Scotland.

The country has one of the highest lung cancer rates in the world and twice that of the UK population combined.

Cancer detection blood test

A simple blood test that could detect cancers up to five years earlier than conventional screening is to be tested in Scotland. Smokers will be checked for high levels of antibodies in their blood that can be a sign of developing lung cancers.
