Teachers are reporting that more children are arriving at school hungry, dirty, and struggling to concentrate. A study from the Prince's Trust also reports that teachers are seeing in increase in the number of malnourished children.

Recession 'blighting the lives of schoolchildren'

A Prince's Trust study says more youngsters are arriving for lessons hungry, dirty and struggling to concentrate. In some cases ''scavenger'' pupils have been caught finishing scraps of food.

The findings are based on interviews with more than 500 secondary school teachers.
