School children 'victims of financial crisis'

The Prince's Trust has warned that school children are becoming victims of the financial crisis.

A survey of teachers has revealed that record numbers are reporting children are coming to school hungry, dirty and unable to concentrate.

  • 65% of teachers report children do not have clean clothes at least once a week
  • 40% of teachers report children do not have clean clothes every day
  • 57% of teachers say they have pupils who come to school hungry once a week
  • 39% of teachers say they have pupils who come to school hungry every day
