May: New anti-social laws will 'empower' communities

Home Secretary Theresa May said the new anti-social behaviour laws will "empower" local communities and that asbos were "too bureaucratic".

She added that more than three million incidents are being recorded each year.

The Home Secretary Theresa May will announce plans to replace ASBOs with a 'community trigger' to help tackle anti-social behaviour in England and Wales. She claims they will be simpler and more effective than current powers for tackling problems.
