A force 4 earthquake shook northern Italy tonight, one of the strongest of a series of aftershocks that have hit the area since it was struck by a larger quake a week ago. It was felt in an area near Modena at around 7:30pm UK time.
Thousands of people are still being cared for in tents. An almost continuous series of minor aftershocks has rattled the area over the past days.
