Why will the Dalai Lama's visit strain relations?

Whenever a national leader meets the Dalai Lama there is a similar reaction from Beijing. China's leaders regard the Tibetan spiritual leader as a 'separatist' and the head of a 'feudal system' - he is seen as some kind of religious terrorist leader.

Row over Dalai Lama tour

The Dalai Lama begins a national tour of the UK. As part of the tour he has appeared alongside comedian Russell Brand. It is reported that the tour has put strains on the UK's relationship with China.
