RCN: Report reveals 'patient care is suffering'

The general secretary of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) said that "patient care is suffering" following a report from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The report revealed that one in four health and social care providers are failing to meet essential standards and Peter Carter said this was a "shocking state of affairs."

The health watchdog based its on findings on the unannounced inspections of 14,000 health and social care providers in England. It said it had to instruct 3,687 organisations to improve services.
