In 2004, although Shafilea's parents were the prime suspects, they protested their innocence. Speaking at the time to ITV News, they objected to the way police handled their case.

Shafilea murder: Parents jailed

Iftikhar and Farzana Ahmed have both been jailed for life and ordered to serve a minimum of 25 years after being found guilty of murdering their teenage daughter Shafilea in an "honour killing".
