Murray wins first Olympic singles gold medal since 1908

Andy Murray has captured the biggest title of his career with an emphatic victory over Roger Federer in the Olympic men's singles at Wimbledon.

He has become the first British man to win the Olympic singles gold medal since Josiah Ritchie in 1908.

Murray defeats Federer

Andy Murray defeated seven-time Wimbledon champion Rodger Federer to win gold in the final of the men's Olympic singles on Sunday. It was not the Scot's only medal on the day, as he teamed up with Laura Robson to claim silver in the mixed doubles.
