Competitors make a splash in annual Arundel Bathtub Race

Competitors have taken part in the annual Arundel Bathtub Race in Arundel in West Sussex.

The baths were launched by crane down a slipway made from scaffold boards, then tied up at the bottom of a set of concrete steps leading from a patio area down to the river.

The race headed up river in a northerly direction, before turning around a buoy and returning to the starting point. The race kicked off just before high water, so the first half was with the tide and there was little water movement.

After nominal costs, entry fees, other funds raised will go to the Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice in Poling near Arundel, which cares for life-limited children and their families and receives no funding other than donations.
