The UK needs a four-runway airport if it wants to compete with other European hubs such as Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Paris, a report by a think tank said today.

Number 10: This is a reshuffle, not a change in policy

The Prime Minister's spokesman dismissed suggestions that Ms Greening's removal signalled a shift in Government policy on a third runway for Heathrow.

This is a reshuffle, it doesn't mean a change in Government policy. It means different people in different jobs, but the policy remains the same. On Heathrow, there is a very clear coalition commitment. We have said we will be beginning a process this autumn looking at the issue of airport capacity.
