Poll: Paralympics legacy 'mixed'

Only just half of people surveyed think attitudes towards disabled people will change after the Paralympics, according to a survey carried out ComRes for ITV News. But 65% thought negative stereotypes would be reduced as a result.

ITV News poll: Challenge of Paralympics to change attitudes

The ITV News/ComRes poll also found:

  • More than four out of five (82%) say the Paralympic Games will help to make disabled people more visible in the media
  • Two thirds (65%) say the Games will reduce negative stereotypes about disabled people
  • 46% say Paralympic athletes are more inspirational than Olympic athletes but 34% disagree
