UK's Bloodhound rocket to attempt land speed record
The Ministry of Defence is to announce its involvement in a UK project aiming to break the land speed record.
The Bloodhound, pictured, is powered by a jet engine and a hybrid rocket motor and is designed to travel at a speed of 1,050 mph.
Briton Andy Green is the current land speed world record holder, travelling at faster than 760 mph in ThrustSSC in 1997.
