During his keynote speech to Labour's annual conference on Tuesday, Ed Miliband spoke of his fond memories of his time at Haverstock School secondary school, which he said shaped his political beliefs.
But he revealed today he has not been keeping a close eye on the latest activities of one of its most famous former pupils - X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos.
Asked on ITV1's Daybreak who he was hoping would win the latest series of the TV talent show, Mr Miliband had to admit he did not know who was competing.
Clearly caught off guard by the question, he said:
"I haven't been watching this series. That's terrible. I was spending too long working on my speech."
