Manchester set to pay tribute to shot police officer
Manchester is expected to come to a standstill today as both members of the public and police officers pay their respects to PC Nicola Hughes.
The funeral cortege will pass through the heart of the city centre along Deansgate before a service at Manchester Cathedral at 1pm.
Police chiefs said they have been overwhelmed by the public support with more than 25,000 messages of condolence on its website, 19,000 via Facebook and another 1,000 on Twitter.
