The government's chief whip Andrew Mitchell, who allegedly called Downing Street police officers “f****** plebs”, has pulled out of next week’s Tory party conference, according to The Daily Telegraph.
The newspaper quotes a friend of Mr Mitchell's as saying: "The last thing he wants to be is a distraction. It was his decision.”
It is extremely rare for a senior politician like Mr Mitchell to stay aware from the annual conference.
