Actress Daryl Hannah has been released from a Texas jail following her arrest as she protested against a pipeline designed to bring crude oil from Canada to the Gulf Coast.

The Tyler Morning Telegraph reported today that Hannah was freed on a bond of 2,500 US dollars (£1,540) on Thursday night but faces criminal trespass charges.

Her release came hours after she was arrested in Winnsboro, about 100 miles east of Dallas.
