The Prime Minister says the BBC should investigate allegations made against former presenter Jimmy Savile.
"Truly shocking things have been said and it's important that the BBC properly investigates them itself," David Cameron told the BBC's Andrew Marr Show.
"Everyone must ask themselves the question: is there new evidence that needs to be looked at?"
Several of Sir Jimmy Savile's alleged victims are considering taking legal action against the DoH and the BBC, a lawyer has told ITV News.
