Republican Mitt Romney has erased Barack Obama's advantage in the presidential race and the two candidates are now tied among likely voters, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll released today.
With only four weeks until the November 6 election, the poll showed both men each command 45 per cent. Obama had been leading by two points in the last poll on Sunday.
Romney's boost in the polls comes after a strong US presidential debate performance last week.
The online survey of 1,157 likely voters was conducted between October 5 and October 9.
Momentum. It's what Obama had and what Romney took away from him at the first Presidential debate in Colorado.
Unless the Democrats can halt Mitt Romney's remarkable surge then President Obama will be facing the political abyss.
