Boris: I'm a mop & PM a broom

The darling of the Conservative conference, Boris Johnson, has backed David Cameron, telling delegates he was pleased the PM called him as a "blond haired mop", because his party had to "clear things up" after Labour. He called Mr Cameron "a broom."

PM on Boris: 'It's great to have someone with rock-star status in the party'

Speaking about London Mayor Boris Johnson's arrival at the Conservative Party Conference in which he was met by cheering crowds, David Cameron has told ITV's Daybreak he thinks "It's great that we have got someone with rock-star status in the Tory party."

He added: "There are a lot of people more popular than me in the world because I have to be the one who takes the difficult decisions on behalf of the country to recover us from the dreadful situation that Labour left us in."
