Toyota recalls 7.4m cars

Toyota is voluntarily recalling 7.43 million cars across the world because of a potential fire risk with the power window switches. It affects vehicles sold between 2005 and 2010, including the Camry, Corolla, Yaris and RAV4 SUV models.

What next if your Toyota is recalled?

  • Owners in the UK affected by the recall will receive a letter from the company within the next six weeks asking them to make an appointment with their nearest Toyota centre.
  • The dealer will check the Power Window Master Switch. If it is operating properly it will be given a special, non-conducting lubrication. If there is is a problem it will be replaced with a new unit.
  • The work should take no more than one hour and will be carried out free of charge.
