3 million visited the UK in August
- 3 million overseas visitors came to the UK in August, 5% fewer than August 2011
- Despite the fall in numbers, UK earnings for this period were 9% higher than August 2011
- 7.3 million UK residents went abroad during August, a similar amount to 2011
- Of the 3 million visitors an estimated 420,000 were for the Olympics or Paralympics
