25th anniversary of first successful baby heart transplant

The 25th anniversary of the first successful baby heart transplant will be celebrated today.

Kaylee Davidson-Olley, who underwent the historic procedure, will be joined in Newcastle by more than 30 other people who received heart transplants as babies.

The original operation took place at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, and the gathering of baby transplant recipients is set to be the biggest of its kind in the UK.

Kaylee, who was five months old when the operation took place, is now studying at college and spends a lot of time training for athletics.
