Today Manchester-based law firm Pannone said it had received allegations that Savile had assaulted a 10-year-old boy while the boy was at Haut de la Garenne children's home in Jersey.
Solicitor Alan Collins said:
This is an allegation of a serious sexual assault on a vulnerable young man.
I would urge other victims and anyone who has information regarding alleged abuse by Jimmy Savile to come forward.
Any information would be treated in the strictest confidence.
Jimmy Savile was questioned as a suspect by police investigating the Yorkshire Ripper, according to a retired police officer.
Jimmy Savile's nephew has spoken of the emotional turmoil his family is going through in the wake of the sex abuse allegations.
A colleague of Jimmy Savile allegedly raped a woman on BBC premises in 1970, ITV News has been told.
