Stars expected at Vidal Sassoon memorial service

Stars of fashion, film, art and design will pay tribute to hairdressing pioneer Vidal Sassoon at a memorial service today.

The London-born crimper, who invented the "bob" hairstyle which epitomised the Swinging Sixties, died at his home in Los Angeles in May, aged 84.

Mary Quant, Jeremy Irons, Sir Michael Caine, Lord Putnam, Anish Kapoor, Zaha Hadid, John Frieda, Nicky Clarke and Sir Peter Blake are among those expected at St Paul's Cathedral to pay their respects to the hairdresser, who died after a battle with leukaemia.
