DCMS: Miller has not prejudiced BBC Savile inquiry

The Department of Culture, Media and Sport has issued a statement stating that the new Culture Secretary Maria Miller accidentally misspoke when she accused the BBC of inappropriately pulling the Newsnight report into Sir Jimmy Savile.

The Secretary of State has not prejudged the outcome of the BBC’s investigation into the pulling of a Newsnight item on Savile.

As the Secretary of State made clear in the House, it is for the BBC, not ministers, to investigate these allegations.
