Turkey forces plane en route to Syria to land

An Armenian plane en route to Syria was forced to land in the eastern Turkish city of Erzurum this morning by Turkish authorities.

Officials from the Turkish prime minister's office said the plane was carrying humanitarian aid and was on its way to Aleppo. A Foreign Ministry official said it would be allowed to continue its journey if nothing else was found on board.

Turkey searches Syria-bound jet

Turkish authorities are searching the cargo of an Armenian plane bound for Syria. Permission was given for the plane to use Turkish airspacve on the condition it did not carry military equipment.
